QB: Jared Goff (DET)

RR Ranking – QB17 | ADP on Underdog Fantasy – 129.1

Leading one of the most hyped offenses coming into the 2023 season, it’s hard to not like where Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions are heading coming into the fall. If you’re super high on Amon-Ra St. Brown in fantasy drafts, you need to be high on Jared Goff as well.

• Lions have a 9.5 implied win total (highest for DET in the better half of the last decade)
• In a division that is completely up for grabs and presents many shoot-out opportunities
• Improved and healthy offensive line unit
• Jameson Williams once off suspension will join fantastic set of weapons (ARSB leap year)
• Goff has been extremely efficient as a Lions quarterback (48 TDs / 15 INTs in 2 seasons)
• Cheap ADP where you can stack WRs and make sure you get solid options in your drafts before selecting a QB

RB: De’Von Achane (MIA)

RR Ranking – RB34 | ADP on Underdog Fantasy – 113.1

The rookie from Texas A&M ran a 4.32-40 at the 2023 Combine, sliding his way perfectly into a freakishly speedy Miami Dolphins offense alongside Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. While many still believe that injury-ridden veterans Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert will control touches, I am doing everything I can to be as aggressive as possible on De’Von Achane shares.

• A dual-threat back in a fast-paced offense, Achane rushed for 1,100 yards and caught 36 balls on 44 targets in 2022 for the Aggies – literally perfect for an outside zone running Dolphins offense
• Achane is a “bet on talent” as well as a “bank on injury” to 2 former 49ers RBs that can’t seem to make it through a half season each
• While his size has been a consistent knock on his NFL outlook, his 18 runs of 15+ yards (1 15+ yard run every 10.8 rushes) was more than what Bijan Robinson was able to accomplish last season (1 every 12.2 rushes)
• Achane is currently our RB34 in our Best Ball Rankings, sitting at a very solid ADP of 113.1 – a prime opportunity to take a projected gamble on an explosive rookie in a RB tier that is full of backup options (AJ Dillon/Samaje Perine/Zach Charbonnet)

RB: Jerome Ford (CLE)

RR Ranking – RB54 | ADP on Underdog Fantasy – 176.1

Ford is currently nursing a hamstring injury that will sideline him for the rest of the preseason. What does this mean? Well, that in theory should mean that people completely sleep on this guy in their season long/best ball drafts because they A) haven’t seen him on the field in preseason and B) because he has the terrifying injury tag. The truth of the matter is, this is a wonderful time to buy the dip in Cleveland’s RB2 stock before most start to catch on before it is too late.

• The Browns RB room has 120+ carries vacated after departures of Kareem Hunt and D’Ernest Johnson
• Even though Nick Chubb had 302 of those carries, there are still 120-140 opportunities here including pass game work that needs to be split between Ford, Demetric Felton (who looks to be a converted slot receiver), John Kelly Jr. (who has been extremely inefficient in preseason), and Hassan Hall (hasn’t played more than clean-up duty in preseason). If the Browns continue to be run-heavy, which they should, opportunities will present itself for Ford
• The cherry on top for this selection is how late you’re able to get Ford in drafts. At an ADP of 176.1, he provides serious upside in scenarios where he sees 8-12 opportunities a game
• In a range filled with QB2/QB3 options and fringe receivers, Ford could be a steal in drafts in the event Nick Chubb misses a game or two and even if he misses zero

WR: Christian Watson (GB)

RR Ranking – WR23 | ADP on Underdog Fantasy – 41

A Green Bay Packer homer pick from Jared? NEVER! Christian Watson, despite being one of my new favorite players on my home-town team, has made quite a lot of noise in 2023 Best Ball Drafts.

• Watson had 4 Top-10 WR weekly finishes after playing 14 games as a rookie (and benched for the first month of the season after dropping his first target)
• After coming alive in the mid to latter part of the regular season, Christian never saw more than 8 targets in any game – Why is this important? If Green Bay’s new WR1 sees the usage increase that we should expect post-AR12, Davante Adams, Robert Tonyan, Allen Lazard, and Randall Cobb, he could see upwards of 140+ targets this season (which would equal 8.2+ targets per game after seeing only 65 total targets last year) that would absolutely destroy his ADP of 41
• The 2023 Green Bay Packers are projected to be in more shootout / come-from-behind scenarios, which in theory should lean heavily on the passing weapons

TE: Jake Ferguson (DAL)

RR Ranking – TE19 | ADP on Underdog Fantasy – 183.9

The Dallas Cowboys just lost Dalton Schultz’s 282 targets and 17 TDs from the last three seasons and Jake Ferguson looks to be the man to absorb the job in 2023 in one of the NFL’s top offenses.

• Cowboys TE room is Ferguson, Peyton Hendershot, and rookie Luke Schoonmaker (coming off off-season surgery)
• Tight Ends with Dak Prescott have finished as a TE1 in six of his seven seasons in a Dallas offense (Schultz finished as TE3 overall in 2021)
• Our TE19 ranking is extremely bullish, as he is going in some of the last rounds of best ball drafts, an ideal candidate to cap off your last picks with a stackable piece of an electric Cowboys offense
